About the Institute

The University of Cambridge Institute for Aviation and the Environment (IAE) incorporates the latest scientific research, technological developments and economic thinking to address the needs of the aviation and aerospace industries regarding the environment. The improvements in technology and operation, needed to allow sustainable development of air transport, depend crucially on the delivery to manufacturers, airlines and regulators of robust results incorporating improved understanding of the processes and interactions that determine the environmental impact. The Institute fosters a close alliance between academia, industry and government to facilitate the transfer of knowledge by aligning world-leading research with end-user needs.
